The popular comic who had declared his intention to run for a political position, bares his heart about his conviction to take up leadership.
Top Nigeria comedian, Julius Agwu has revealed reasons why he wants to be the Governor of Rivers State.
The celebrity last week, had shocked the country, when a campaign poster for his gubernatorial aspiration was made public, with many quickly moving to brand it 'another joke' from the comic.
But Julius has been working to dispel that notion, citing reasons why he believes he is the right candidate for the position.
He told Vanguard: "I cannot really call myself a politician, but l am someone who prays and wish for things to get better than it is in this country. I believe I can help to achieve what my brother started in Rivers State. It is a known truth that Port Harcourt was the Garden City of this great country, but we lost that glory because of poverty and neglect, coupled with incessant militancy and kidnapping. Governor Amaechi has done well for the State, but we still need good hands after he leaves to continue the good work."
Julius got his mind made up after ceaseless calls from his friends and concerned Nigerians who wanted him to take up some form of Governmental position, and effect sweeping beneficial changes, became too much to handle.
Those calls made him look within himself, and realise that he had the vision and heart, to lead the people of Rivers State.
“Becoming the governor of Rivers State was not something that came up overnight. It was not on my radar back then. The people of Rivers State in the Diaspora and those in the State have been clamouring for me to come out as an aspirant. They believe I have what it takes to go for it. It just dawned on me that I indeed have what it takes. I have given it a serious thought and have given in to their pressure."
Julius Agwu's encouragement team, will also be responsible for the sponsorship of his political campaign, and he intends to run under an unnamed party, which also will have a Presidential aspirant in the 2015 Nigerian general elections.
Besides his lucrative comedy business, Julius Agwu also owns a studio, a construction company, and a band called 'Reel Laif Band'.
